Chapter 18 - The Last Bale of Silage (April 19th 2007, our son Phil’s birthday)
It is a really beautiful spring day, wall-to-wall sunshine, a brilliant blue sky and a gentle breeze.
Hopefully, this bale of silage, taken out for the cows today, will be the last one for the winter. As soon as the fresh spring grass appears the cows usually ignore the silage, but after the wettest winter imaginable and a few very dry weeks in quite high temperatures, they really went for it.
